This healthy turkey meatballs recipe is easy and made without breadcrumbs – a delicious healthy dinner idea that is low carb and you can meal prep for the week. To make this tasty and easy ground turkey recipe you’ll need just a few ingredients: ground turkey, garlic, basil, pesto, zucchini and mozzarella cheese.
Healthy Turkey Meatballs Recipe
I’ve never been a fan of turkey meat or meatballs, but somehow this recipe has won me over. I served these turkey meatballs in a tasty tomato garlic sauce and with my tomato basil couscous and they were absolutely amazing.
Turkey Meatball Ingredients
This recipe needs no crumbs and no egg! The only ingredients you need for these are:
- ground turkey
- mozzarella cheese
- basil
- pesto
- garlic
- zucchini
- salt and pepper to taste
How To Make Turkey Meatballs
Place all of the prepared ingredients in a small bowl.
Mix them together using a fork.
Prepare walnut-sized balls with this mixture.
Cook the meatballs in a nonstick pan with some fat on each side until golden brown. It took about 3-4 minutes for me on each side. I also cooked the sides for a little.
You can serve the meatballs with a salad or cauliflower rice for a low carb option or with a tomato-based sauce and couscous, pasta or rice, like I did for these meal prep bowls.
Meal Prep Tips
The only meal prep tip I have here is to make more of these! This recipe is great for 2 servings, so you’ll need to double the recipe. You can serve these meatballs with a salad, rice, pasta or with a tomato garlic sauce and couscous like I did.
