Healthy Ice Cream Ingredients
You only need 3 things to make this delicious summer treat: strawberries, banana and milk.
You can use any kind of milk for this recipe and you can also experiment with the quantity. I ended up adding a bit too much, therefore my ice cream looks a bit melty, but it was cold, delicious and good nevertheless.
This is important
For this homemade ice cream recipe to work, it’s important that you use frozen fruit. Both should be frozen – bananas and strawberries.
You also want to use a really good high speed blender or an immersion blender.Let the fruit defrost for a minute and then go crazy.
How To Make Healthy Ice Cream With 3 Ingredients
Really, it’s like making a smoothie, but you’ll need to stop and to readjust a few times:
Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend. If and when your blender gets “stuck”, open and scoop to allow for further blending. Repeat until there are no whole chunks of fruit left and everything is well blended. I usually need to do this only once of twice.
Scoop out your ice cream into a bowl and top with your favorite toppings. Then eat it immediately!
Try different flavors
If you’re not a huge fan of bananas or strawberries, feel free to use other frozen fruit you love. Some that come to mind are peaches, mango, blueberries – whatever your heart desires. Add the fruit you love, some milk and see how it goes. Optionally you can also add some vanilla, cinnamon or whatever you like.
I didn’t go crazy with the toppings here, but you could choose to top with some granola or this healthy crumble, more fruit, nuts, almond or peanut butter, or whatever your favorite toppings are.
- 1 ½ cup strawberries
- 1 small banana
- 1/2 cup milk of choice
- Use frozen banana and frozen strawberries. Add all ingredients to your high speed blender or let the fruit defrost for a bit and blend with an immersion blender. Blend until there are no chunks of fruit left. I needed to open the blender, scoop and blend again to get everyhing blended.
- You can experiment add less milk to make the ice cream thicker, but this is perfect for serving immediately.
- Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
